Maternity Shoots: Do or Don't?

As my bump gets bigger, I've been considering a maternity shoot. It's one of those things that seems super-vain on one hand, and a lovely record of my pregnancy on the other. Like any pregnant woman, I'm fascinated at how my body is changing, and the satisfying roundness of my tummy. It's both weird and wonderful at the same time. Maternity shoots seem to be a big thing in the USA, but it's a trend fast crossing the Atlantic. What do you think about them? Take a look at my Pinterest Maternity Shoot Inspiration board for more ideas.

Loving Oeuf's Baby & Children's Clothes

LOVE! They're not cheap, but I've fallen head-over-heels for the whole Oeuf NYC range. Packed with cosy jumpsuits sporting humorous motifs, they tread the so-do-delicate line between cool and cute with typical NYC aplomb. With an animal theme running throughout the collection, it's hard to choose whether you want your little one to be a bunny or a bear....or just a little monster. Buy direct from the Oeuf NYC website, or from Smallable here in the UK.

1. Baby Flash Light Jumpsuit 2. Baby Glasses Jumpsuit, £58

1. Baby Rabbit Hat 2. Baby Monsters Mittens, £30

1. I Heart Jumper 2. Baby Monster Jumpsuit, £58

Maternity & Post-Baby Loungewear

After giving birth, I have a feeling I may feel like getting dressed every day, so I'll be needing some relaxed, but stylish loungewear. So I was thrilled to discover online boutique Oysho, and its gorgeous, but affordable range of pj's and hoodies. They've also got a pretty range of sexier underwear that I'll be raiding once I'm out of the maternity bras!

1. Animal Patch Fleece Sweatshirt, £39.99

1. Animal Patch Top, £25.99, 2. Jacquard Leggings, £22.99

Baby Star Sleepsuits from John Lewis

For me it feels wrong to spend the same amount on a jumper for a baby as I would on myself! They grow out of them so fast - and they're so much smaller - how on earth can they cost the same? Thank goodness for the high street stores. I'm endlessly impressed by how they turn out such stylish and cute baby outfits at such reasonable prices. Top of my love-list at the moment are these adorable star themed outfits from John Lewis. I'm planning a star theme for my nursery, so it's becoming something of a favourite motif for me.

1. Star Baby Bundler, £10 2. Baby Star Jumper, £15 3. Baby Star Sleepsuits, set of 3, £15

My First Baby Buy - Cute M&S Bodysuits

It's taken me over five months, but I've finally bought my first baby clothes! I needed to buy a present for a cousin's newborn boy, and M&S captured me with its cute and oh-so-affordable baby outfits. I particularly loved these body suits because they feature a helicopter print, and my husband's family are big fans of flying. Seven pure cotton bodysuits were £10 and the muslins I threw in my basket at the last minute were £7 for five. Exciting first purchases!

First Day of Maternity Shopping

Nearly five months in, with my normal jeans a long way from doing up, I finally decided to take the plunge and buy my first maternity clothes. I'd tried buying a whole bunch of Isabella Oliver maternity clothes on eBay, but when they arrived in the post, they were all a bit too grown-up for me. So despite feeling pretty shattered, I headed out on to Oxford Street after work. My first stop was Topshop Maternity, where I picked up a fantastic pair of black bump jeans and a non-maternity nightie to make me feel a bit more glam with my growing tummy. H&M was a treasure trove of discoveries, bump tights, new knickers, fab long vest tops, Breton-style striped t-shirts, and a great pair of grey skinny-fit cords. Success, and all for under £100! I love the British High Street!

1. MAMA H&M Vest Top {set of 2, white & black, £9.99}, 2. MAMA H&M Tights {£6.99}, 3. MAMA H&M Striped Top {£9.99}, 4. Topshop Jersey Slip {£18}, Centre: MAMA H&M Grey Jeans {£24.99}
